JACOB PURCELL
Brass Instrument Specialist and French Horn Player, Cuyamaca College Band and Wind Ensemble
Jacob’s musical journey commenced at the tender age of seven with the piano, and he broadened his scope to brass instruments by the fifth grade at La Mesa Arts Academy. His passion for brass flourished as he transitioned from euphonium to trombone, and ultimately to French horn, his main instrument today. Jacob's prowess in brass led him to prominent roles in various ensembles including the East County Youth Symphony and the SD Philharmonic. His versatility is further demonstrated through his participation in musical theater productions such as Les Misérables, Shrek, and The Addams Family.
Over the years, Jacob has played with the Grossmont honor band and the honor jazz band, engaging deeply with the local music scene. Additionally, he has taught music to 3rd-6th grade students in the Lemon Grove School District, enriching his experience as an educator. Jacob's commitment to his musical and educational pursuits is evident as he continues to perform and teach, planning to extend his influence and expertise throughout his ongoing education and professional endeavors.
