JONATHAN BOOTS
Music Education Major and Trumpet Performer, San Diego State University
Jonathan's passion for music leadership began in high school, where he excelled as a section leader and drum major. He further developed his skills through a significant role as Assistant Band Director under Dr. James Webb at Grossmont High School from 2018 to 2020, which sharpened his abilities in music education and leadership.
At SDSU, Jonathan is immersed in a music education program celebrated for its innovative curriculum and successful placement of graduates in prestigious music education roles throughout Southern California and beyond. This program offers a comprehensive educational experience, encompassing theory, aural skills, composition, conducting, and participation in both small and large ensembles. It also includes valuable collaboration with K-12 music educators, allowing Jonathan and his peers real-world teaching experiences that enhance their practical skills.
Jonathan's 14 years of trumpet playing, including 7 years at a professional level, underpin his educational pursuits. His dedication to teaching and his commitment to music education showcase his drive to inspire students and promote lifelong engagement with music.
