KRISTIE MACOGAY

Violinist, Music Educator, and Creative Project Collaborator

Kristie Eleison Macogay (she/they) embarked on their musical journey in various music communities, focusing initially on genres like Bluegrass, Manouche Jazz, and Indie-Pop. A graduate of Monte Vista High School and Grossmont-Cuyamaca College, where they earned an Associate's degree in Music Education, Kristie has studied classical music extensively under esteemed instructors such as Regina Tolley, Dr. Ariana Warren, and James Sepulvado.

Their performance career has flourished with engagements in prominent local ensembles, including "Bambula," and regular appearances at iconic San Diego venues like Lestat's, Public Square, and Izola Bakery. Since October of 2022, Kristie has managed Lestat’s Open Mic nights, fostering a vibrant community of local artists.

In addition to performing, Kristie is deeply invested in music education, providing private instruction and working with local music programs. They play a pivotal role in shaping young musicians as the Advanced Strings Instructor for the Lemon Grove After School music program. Kristie also collaborates on creative projects with Kendrick Jennings and contributes to the nonprofit organization "Apt 4 Music" in Point Loma.
